Gardens for a cut flower grower in Wildboarclough, Cheshire

This scheme was for a cut flower grower and her husband on a hilly site near Macclesfield. The client already had a glasshouse and raised beds but strong prevailing winds reduced her ability to grow as much as she liked. We therefore proposed to enclose the productive garden with new mixed native hedging which allowed us to engage the sense of a garden within and around the raised beds through loose informal planting and shrubs.

A new dining terrace to the rear was to be created by the introduction of retaining walls which pushed the slope away from the house allowing the house space to breathe. To the front a new garden for relaxing and taking in a view over the countryside was suggested with pleached trees and borders proposed to separate the driveway from the house.
